The mainly used WWW browsers are the Netscape Navigator from Netscape (now AOL) and (on Windows platforms) the Internet Explorer from Microsoft.

As a consequence of the hot fight between the two systems, both programs got more and more functions and developed into universal network applications.


Some additional functions are: email and news reader, graphical HTML editor, online video conferencing, network calendar.
