Configuration of NetBeans

You will find the zip file netbeans-stuff.zip on the CD in the directory PhysBeans/lib. Open it (or unpack it) and copy the directories FormDesignerPalette and Templates into the configuration directory of NetBeans. Make sure that NetBeans is not running! If you are using a different version of NetBeans, the configuration directory is changed slightly using the version number. For versions 4.0 and 4.1 you have to rename the directory FormDesignerPalette into Palette .

Now start NetBeans and add PhysBeans as a new library in the following way:

• Open the Library Manager from the Tools menu.
• Select New Library, name the new library PhysBeans and confirm with Ok.
• Choose Add JAR/Folder..., navigate to your local copy of the library file physbeans.jar (e.g. at C:\physbeans or $\sim$/physbeans), select it and confirm twice.

Finally create a new project (e.g. myapplets) that uses PhysBeans:

• Open New Project... from the File menu.
• Select General/Java Application and confirm with Next >.
• Define the Project Name (e.g. myapplets) and the Project Location (e.g. C:\physbeans).
• Deselect Create Main Class and confirm with Finish. In the Projects window on the left hand side you can see a tree representation of the project. If necessary open it by double clicking on the symbol and select the Source Packages entry.

  

  Now the File menu contains the entry "myapplets" Properties.

• Open the editor for the project properties - you find it in the menu File/"myapplets" Properties - and choose Libraries from the list of Categories.
• Select Add Library..., choose PhysBeans and confirm twice.

You can now create your own applets using the PhysBeans library.
