Lists

A simple list is created with the itemize environment. Each new item starts with the command \item, it is displayed with a label (hyphen, bullet etc.) that changes according to the nesting level.

The enumerate environment works similar; it produces a numbered list.

The description environment produces a list, where each item starts with a description label, given as optional argument to the \item command.
